Vintage Silver Tuareg Tisek Tanfouk Ring, Mali
£125.00
Beautiful old Tuareg silver ring with translucent banded agate tanfouk, made in the 1950s in Mali. This ring has different decorative hand-etched tribal designs on each side of the silver setting and a silver band. Tisek rings can be worn as finger rings or as pendants on leather cord. This ring is more likely to have been worn as a pendant due to the length and pointed end of the tanfouk. Tuareg people also wear them braided into their hair. The carnelian represents the life force and offers perceived protection to the wearer. A beautiful ring or pendant in very good vintage condition.
