Antique Bohemian (Czech) Necklace, Mali
A beautiful antique glass wedding necklace, made in Mali, traditionally passed from mother to daughter on her wedding day. Each necklace is unique as it was strung individually with specially chosen beads for the wearer.
The lovely glass beads were made in Bohemia (modern-day Czechia) in the 1800s and were used throughout Africa for trade. The pear-shaped beads were especially prized by Fulani women due to their resemblance to the female form.
This necklace is very bright and colourful with a mixture of patterned and plain beads. It slips nicely over the head for wear. There are a few chips in the glass as is common with old glass beads. A unique necklace to wear and treasure.
