Large Antique Yemen Silver 'Hirz' Amulet – RARE
This large high-quality Yemeni silver hirz (amulet) pendant is an impressive rare piece, large and ornate with fine filigree and granulation. Made by Jewish craftsmen in the early 20th century, the workmanship is of of a high standard. This hollow hirz opens at one end and would have contained verses from the Qu’ran, perceived as protection from evil. It is likely to have been worn as part of a larger necklace for bridal adornment or given to the bride as part of her dowry. A stunning collectible piece.
