A very large and rare 1960s hoop temporal, worn by Haratine women on the Northern edge of the Sahara, likely from the Tata region. The hoop and bale are made of white metal and have a decorative design. The attached beads are metal, glass and resin. The reverse of the ornate bale has leather attached. The temporal would have been worn tied to the hair as seen in the photo. It is a lovely collector’s piece or alternatively, with the cord attached, this temporal could be worn as a large and unusual pendant if desired (see photo).
