A silver layered Tuareg tcherot amulet from Niger, mounted on a sheet of thin steel. Made in the 1980s, this amulet is finely etched with linear patterns on each layer and has decorative granulation. The amulet is suspended on fine leather cord, partially plaited, with leather fringing. This traditional Tuareg tcherot may have contained verses from the Qur'an, believed to afford protection to the wearer. In good vintage condition.
